90 Songs in 90 Days!
Saturday, November 29th, 2008When I first started Daily Song this was the logo:
And who could forget the original blimp:
Looking at this blimp, I can’t help but think that perhaps this was the pinnacle of Daily Song.
For me, the early days of Daily Song was the pinnacle, in a way. When I quit being a scientist in August, I had just thought of this idea of Daily Song and I was very excited about it. It was fun and new. I had energy, unlimited Daily Song energy.
Now we are at Day #89, and tomorrow’s special 3-month anniversary song will be my 90th song. In another way, these present days of Daily Song are the pinnacle, for me. I mean, 89 days ago I couldn’t have written anything like that’s what a chord’s for or man who slept for 1000 days.
But, I’m tired and the songs are all just a blur to me. This is hard to explain but I have a feeling of absence when I’m writing, to the point of not even really remembering the process. Then, and this is the strangest part, I’m starting to hear the songs, react to them, and understand them as if someone else had written them.
It’s like this: Do you know how some green singer-songwriters are a bit embarrassed to play their own songs, but they perk up when it’s time to play a cover song? Well, Daily Songs are starting to feel like cover songs to me - and even while I’m writing them, if that makes any sense.
That’s really the best I can explain it. I know it sounds trippy. But, I have a degree in Biochemistry, for goodness sake, and anyone who knows me will agree that I am not very trippy. Am I just extremely in the zone ?
Anyways, make sure you stay tuned to tomorrow’s special 90-day anniversary song. Also, 10 days until my extra-special anniversary song, #100! Finally, today’s song is called Super Sparkly. Goodnight!
